Why was CWC created?

“Conversations with Councils” was developed by Lana Bavle in response to her Thesis: Improving the Leadership Capabilities of Municipal Elected Officials Through Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities. Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM), the research partner, asked how they might help the rural elected municipal officials improve their leadership capabilities.

The findings centred around the absence of accessible training opportunities that focus on roles & responsibilities, governance, and leadership. The recommendations identified a need for education for elected officials in order to efficiently and confidently perform their duties.

Roles and Responsibilities of Council and Rural Administrators, Bylaws, Ratepayers, and more.

Why has LTB Leadership made governance a focus?

In the fall of 2018, Bavle set out to discover how the leadership of elected officials in municipal government could be strengthened. She explored what tools and resources were already available, as well as identified gaps to fill what would help elected officials to lead and carry out their roles and responsibilities better.

LTB Leadership works to create resources, mentor, and train to help those in municipal government succeed.
